HELLO, I'M
CINEMATOGRAPHER
I'm FABRIZIO SPAGNUOLO, a DOP currently calling Łódź, Poland, my home (for now!).
My path to cinematography wasn’t exactly traditional. I started this journey at 28, after wrapping up my career as a professional athlete and coach. Movies were always more than just a hobby for me—they were an obsession. So, I took the leap, graduated from the Ukrainian Film School, and began my career as a Camera Operator.
I worked on TV series and a historical feature film, gaining invaluable experience that helped shape my approach to storytelling and visuals. Eventually, I found my true calling as a Director of Photography.
I’m all about learning, experimenting, and diving into new challenges. I never stop learning—right now, I’m wrapping up my studies at Łódź Film School, that gave the chance to work with 35mm Filmstock. That is why I’m based in Łódź at the moment.
Over the years, I’ve had the chance to work extensively in Ukraine and Poland, gaining valuable experience in diverse creative environments.
One of my favorite parts of the job is the prep work—I’m a big fan of visual pre-production. Using 3D tools to map out projects helps me figure out everything from lighting setups to lens choices well in advance. It’s like solving puzzles before they even show up, and it makes the shoot flow smoothly.
Oh, and a fun fact—I speak five languages: ENGLISH, ITALIAN, POLISH, UKRAINIAN, and RUSSIAN. It’s been an incredible advantage when working with international crews and clients.
